| | Brand New Richardson Ford Dealership |
After 90 years in business,Richardson Ford, one of the longest established business in the area,is still owned and managed by the same family.
Some businesses are owned and managed by the familiy for two generations, less for three and very few for four. Owners Paul And Toby Richardson are naturally very proud of their heritage, built over many years of providing excellent service to motorists throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Established 90`years ago by Pollington Born Percy Richardson at Orchard Lane, off Eastgate North ,Driffield. The embryonic Richardsons worked on traction engines and on steam machinery.
Agricultural machinery was very much a part of the work and held the agency for Oliver tractors and also aquired an agency for Standard cars. The Ford tractor agency was established in 1927.A Ford dealer for almost 80 years.Richardsons is one of the oldest dealerships in the United Kingdom.
Alec,Percy`s eldest son ran the business and the company developed over the years adding a farm fueling delivery service in the early 50`s.In 1958 Richardsons expanded it`s operations with the opening of a Ford dealership in Holderness, wich Paul ran for 25 years.Sadly Alec died at the early age of 55 and the managegment was carried on by Paul,Alec`s son and brother Geoffrey.
The next development was the purchase of the long established Ford dealership,Ripley`s in Bridlington.Richardsons also owned Hull Bridge Garage in Tickton and an agricultural dealership in Sherburn.North Yorkshire...in 1982 Richardsons decided to concentrate on the car business and the agricultural operations were sold.
A major re-development of the business in Driffield was carried out following a disastrous fire in 1993.Some 20 years ago Richardsons purchased the premises of what used to be Trennery`s Central Garage and a little later took the opportunity to purchase the adjacent Jackson`s Supermarket.
Early in 2004 Richardsons took the decision to redevelop their dealership in Bridlington and work commenced in January 2006,following the company`s policy the main and sub-contractors are local companies. The fabulous result is a state of the art dealership where customer`s every need is catered for.
Richardsons have gained a unique recognition of their standard of customer service, having won the Ford Chairman`s award twice and been runner up on two occasions. This award is based on returns from customers in which their judgement of service is assessed.
On one site,Richardsons can offer one of the largest selections of new and used cars in the area, with a terrific selection of prestige cars including our speciality of nearly new Jaguars. The accident repair centre is perhaps the best in the area and is approved by most major insurers. Our service team employ highly trained technicians with an unrivalled knowledge of Ford and other marques. We also offer a comprehensive parts deliver service to the trade throughout Hull and East Yorkshire and have recently been appointed by X-Part as distributors, covering parts for all makes of cars.It has been a great journey, such a new Bridlington land mark and I and the rest of the team are delighted to see you.
Best Wishes
Toby Richardson
