Good Luck and Happy Retirement Iain
Happy Retirement Iain McWilliam
Iain retires after ‘very lucky’ 22 years.
Nearly 22 years to the day he started working at the Westgate firm, service manager Iain McWilliam is leaving Richardson Ford after deciding to take a slightly early retirement – with plans to spend most of it in his garden.
Iain’s first day at the family business, which celebrated its 100th birthday in 2019, was on 13th January 1999 and he immediately felt part of the furniture. He’s remained in his role for over two decades and will work his final day on Christmas Eve.
Iain told the Wolds Weekly that he’s had enjoyed every minute of his time at Richardson Ford as well as at the other firms he’s worked for within the Ford network.
“I always expected to be around for a long time as it’s a family business and I’ve fitted in well with the family,” he said. I was saying to Paul (Richardson, chairman of Richardson Ford) that I have been lucky enough to work for three family businesses, all in the Ford network and every one of them has been spot on. Not only have I worked with lots of good colleagues here, they’ve become good friends and that’s one of the best things about my time here. I’ve been very, very lucky and very fortunate. I’ve decided to retire a little bit earlier than I was going to and I’m planning to spend time in the garden.”
Toby Richardson, managing director of Richardson Ford, said the firm has bought a car for Iain to thank him for his long service and wished him a long and fruitful retirement. “Iain has been absolutely superb to work with and has been a real company man and with us for a very long time,” said Toby. We wish him all the best for a long and very happy retirement. We hope he enjoys the car we have given him.”
