Best MPV
FORD’S GALAXY IS one of the most ubiquitous MPVs on our roads, because it’s hugely popular with taxi firms. And that’s no wonder given its huge interior and flexible seating set-up. No matter which seat you’re in, including in the third row, there’s plenty of room, and when all of the rear seats are folded away the already large boot becomes truly cavernous. Overall, the Galaxy is more practical than the similarly sized Seat Alhambra and Volkswagen Sharan.
Don’t be fooled into thinking a car this big can’t be good to drive, though. The Galaxy has the benefit of Ford’s typically sweet handling; in fact, it’s one of the best-driving seven-seat MPVs around. In this model, that handling is matched with a 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine that has a good blend of power and efficiency, plus competitive claimed fuel economy.
The Galaxy is pricier than the Alhambra and Sharan, but competitive PCP deals alleviate this, while decent CO2 emissions make for very reasonable road tax.
Zetec trim gets you 17in alloys, front and rear parking sensors and an 8.0in touchscreen.
