WHO IS KYLIE?
'WHAT A CHARACTER'
So who is the face behind our highly professional Cosmetic & Paint Repair Specialists, well it’s our full of character, super talented Kylie Rex!
Kylie started at Richardson Ford March 2010 as the Bodyshop costing Clark. In her almost 9 years’ service, she has progressed from juggling her duties of Bodyshop Receptionist, Costing Clerk, Experienced Estimator to now successfully filling the role of Cosmetic Paint & Body Repair Centre Manager.
She manages a great team at the Bodyshop whom collectively have years of knowledge and experience. Simon Booth, Richard Overend both 34 years and 28 years as a painter, Alex Vause currently working towards his Level 3 qualification as a Panel Beater and last but by no means least, Martin Colman responsible for collection & delivery of vehicles from all over the country.
Kylie was born in the West End of London June 1978. Her parents ran the White Hart pub in the city before buying an Off-Licence in Camden Town two years later.
In 1990 the family moved to start their new adventures in Bridlington where Kylie’s education started at Headlands School. After leaving school she attended college achieving NVQ Level 2 Administration, NVQ Level 2 Business, Finance & Management and in 2007 achieved her most talked about and favourite qualification of all HGV CLASS 2 LICENCE.
As you can image Kylie is no wilting wall flower and her character shone through in a wide variety of jobs including public houses, supermarket supervisor at Somerfield, assistant at Curry’s, bowling mechanic at the local ten pin bowing ally and even working for Lord and Lady Kirkham in Doncaster as a traveling horse groom. This is where a serious passion for horses began. She attended all the major events like the Queens Golden Jubilee at the Royal Windsor Show an accomplished variety of roles including ‘turning out’ Small Hunter at the Horse of the Year Show, whom was a champion of 4 years in a row.
In 2010 Kylie applied for a receptionist position at Richardson Ford, her career journey began! Over the many years she was given the opportunity to work with ex-managers, experienced workshop technicians, qualified estimators and vehicle damage assessors. This has given her the experience also the knowledge of repairing cars safely and correctly. In 2016 she excelled to another level adding another qualification to her list NVQ Level 3 Vehicle Damage Assessor, one of a minority of woman who has achieved this in a predominantly male industry.
Kylie has 2 children Joseph 19, Steven 17, has been a full time working mum all their lives. Since they have both flown the nest, Kylie and her partner Matthew now concentrate on the rest of the family, 7 husky dogs. Needless to say they take up a massive part of her hobbies outside of work.
So what are her hobbies or rather ADDICTION! CARS!!!!!
From a very young age she would spend time with her parents cleaning a variety of cars, finding out where the oil and water goes, EVEN gained the knowledge of changing a wheel. There was no holding her back, 17 years old first driving lessons, then at 18 years old she got her first car, B-registered Volkswagen Polo. From that day on the list of cars grew varying from Ford Sierra, Granada, Vauxhall Cavalier, Shogun Sport, Fiesta, Escort and Audi etc etc etc.
In her current collection she has a classic 1990 Ford Fiesta RS turbo, a Ford Focus 2008 ST 300bhp both of which are exhibited at cars shows. These cars along with her 2008 Ford Kuga and Audi A6 Estate have been modified in some way, cosmetically and performance enhanced, with the help, experience plus imagination of colleagues at Richardson Ford. Another story at some point
Luckily she has the pleasure of attending various car shows including ‘Ford Fair’ which is the largest Ford show in Europe held at Silverstone with the honour of exhibiting some of her own collection of cars. This resulted in the launch of her own club stand EAST YORKSHIRE FORD ST*RS and supported by Richardson Ford. Hopefully 2019 season will attract new members.
Kylie always says her success and enthusiasm is down to her parents, kids, partner, continued support from her Managers, Colleagues, and best friend or rather partner in crime Corina Bolton at Richardson Ford.
Well that’s the face of our Cosmetic & Paint Repair Centre, a very multi-talented gregarious character with some rather exciting stores to tell about her cars………….
